Am using Outlook Express on Windows XP SP3 with IE8. It was working fine and now doesn't work at all. It says it is connected and then closes. Last edited by RonH; 23-07-2010 at 03:11. Reason: Added system information. |

It would be helpful for us to know the email program that you use. FreePops is not a stand-alone email reader.

I am also running Norton Internet Security 2010 and use port 110.

This might help you Ron.
In Outlook Express: Set NetZero incoming Mail Server to 127.0.0.1 or LocalHost. Use your normal User Name and password. Set the port to 2000. This will route your requests through freepops to NetZero. I believe that FreePops accesses NetZero via port 110, but it's default output to Outlook Express will be on port 2000. Since FreePops is behind the firewall, I don't think any changes to NIS will be needed. |

I was using LocalHost and tried 127.0.0.1 with Port 2000 set in OE. It gave an error message so I tried using FreePOPS with -p2000. This gets rid of the error by still doesn't download email.
The log file has this line: Sat Jul 24 19:54:30 2010 freepopsd: DBG(log_lua.c, 83): (@lua_updates/juno.lua, 253) : Unable to figure out server: <html xmlns:IE><head><title>NetZero Message Center</title><script type="text/javascript" src="/js/new/speed-detector.js?v=21072009"></script><script language="JavaScript"> |

I'll have to let a more experienced user help you out on this. This -- should -- have worked, but things change all the time. I don't have a NetZero email account to test with.

My juno account is working. My netzero account is also working. When I logged into my juno account it was using the old interface. When I logged into my netzero account, it was using the new interface. I clicked the linked to use the classic interface, in the top right. I don't know if that helped or not.

I downloaded and reinstalled FreePops but this didn't help. I then created new OE mail accounts to test and they work. There must have been some corruption in the OE accounts.
Thanks for your help! |

I'm having the same problem with netzero --- when starting the freepop deamon for the first time, netzero's mail checking goes as expected ... but then in the next cycle of checking, nothing happens .. if new mail is waiting in netzero's mailbox, freepop does not download it unless I restart the daemon again
